Ntungamo defeats Isingiro in the Ankole District Football Tournament

Ntungamo district football team on Monday evening defeated Isingiro district football team by 1-0 in a thrilling match played at Kyeirumba played ground in Isingiro district.
The match, which attracted hundreds of traveling fans from Ntungamo district, ended goalless in the first half despite the visitors dominance.
In the early minutes of the second half, Paul Mucurezi curved in through a free kick, throwing the visitors into a wild celebration.
Mucurezi told our reporter after the game that they had a great match and commended the district leadership and fans of Ntungamo for showing great support for the team, which he says energized them to work even harder.
He says that the hosts played a very tactical and defensive game but is happy that his team walked away with a win.
Ntungamo district football team Captain Abraham Atuhaire told our reporter that the team had a good display, adding that they will build on that to do better in the next matches.
Ntungamo District Chairperson Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigoba revealed that the district leadership is determined to support sports.
He also commended the fans from Ntungamo who traveled from Ntungamo for supporting the team with a lot of energy and called on the locals in Ntungamo to continue supporting the team through the tournament.
Muchunguzi asked the locals to turn up in big numbers when Ntungamo hosts Isingiro at Kyamate playground in the return leg on July 7 and when the district team travels for the away game in Rwampara on July 9, 2023.
Muchunguzi revealed that the tournament provides an opportunity for the players in the area to showcase their talent and called on everyone in the district to support the cause.
