Ntungamo district has received a brand new motorcycle to support the child eye health project which is funded by light for the world.

While handing over the motorcycle registration number LG 0027094, the Project administrator Lovincer Nantongo revealed that the donation of the motorcycle is aimed at easing the mobility of health workers so that they can reach out to the communities for sensitization and treatment of eye illnesses.

Hope Katusiime the Ntungamo district acting health officer commended the donors for the initiative saying that the project’s focal person has been finding it difficult to reach out to the locals in rural areas.

Johnson Arinaitwe an Opthalamic clinical officer who also doubles as the project coordinator says that locals in the district have always had to travel to Mbarara or Kabale in case of eye related illnesses.

He further revealed that locals would report to facilities after the illnesses escalate yet they would have been handled in early stages.

Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Mucunguzi revealed that the donation is timely and will ease on delivery of health services.

He called on the staff to put the motorcycle to the intended use and give it the care it deserves.

The child eye health project is currently operating in four districts of Ntungamo,Hoima,Kikube and Moyo in Uganda and will run for a period of 10 years.
