Local Governments Urged to Focus on Improving Local Revenue Generation

Ntungamo district local council five chairperson Denis Singhahache has called of local governments to focus on improving local revenue generation if effective service delivery is to be realized.
The chairperson was today morning addressing sub county chiefs, members of the Civil societies ,heads of departments and political leaders as he opened a one-day training on Local Economic development held at Ntungamo district council hall in Ntungamo Municipality.
Singhahache revealed that improving the lives of the people that the district leadership serves must be backed by the resources.
He revealed that the district will embark on profiling the district tourism sites, minerals and other potential sources of income.
Johnson the district statistician says that the new approach will enable communities participate in decision making if they are to own development projects in their respective communities.
Edward Natamba the Executive director for South western institute for policy and Advocacy revealed that the identifying idle resources is key for improved local revenue.
He revealed that partnerships between the local government and other potential development partners remains the best option to realize sustainable development and improved service delivery.
