Heavy Rains Destroy Gardens in Ntungamo

Heavy rains that hit Ntungamo district on Monday and Wednesday left of a trail of destruction in the sub counties of Rweikiniro ,Kayonza and Rubaare.

 

Banana farmers are the most affected by the rains as many plantations were brought down and some houses also destroyed.

 

 

The  villages of Nyamabare,Kaboroga,Rushebeya II ,Kyenjojo 1 and Kyenjojo II in Rweikiniro sub county are the most affected where several acres of bananas were destroyed and three houses also destroyed.

 

 Rubaare sub county LCV Councillor Ambrose Niwahereza told Ntungamo district communication office that the farmers lost bananas worth millions of shillings.

 

 Anthony Byaruhanga the Ntungamo district secretary for production revealed that the district’s production department has embarked on assessing the damage caused by the rains and advised locals to shun practices that lead to the occurrence of natural disasters.
