The newly elected chairperson of Kafunjo-Mirama Town Council, Ismail Mutabazi, has urged leaders to embrace unity and inclusivity as they embark on their new roles. Speaking after his swearing-in ceremony presided over by Ntungamo Chief Administrative Officer Fidelis Kiiza, Mutabazi emphasized that the town council belongs to all residents and must serve everyone equally.

Mutabazi commended his predecessor, James Habineza, for laying the foundation of the council and pledged to work closely with technocrats to strengthen service delivery. “We must desist from personalizing offices and instead bring all stakeholders on board to ensure that our people get the services they deserve,” he said.

Town clerk Nelson Atuhaire echoed the call for collaboration, noting that the technical team will partner with the political wing to achieve effective governance. Ntungamo District Electoral Commission returning officer Lawrence Baguma also urged the newly sworn-in leaders to prioritize unity for the good of the community.

During the ceremony, Andrew Kwikiriza was elected speaker, while Jumia Twebaze assumed the role of vice chairperson. The event attracted local leaders, clergy, and members of the public, underscoring the community’s interest in the future of the town council.
