Authorities in Ntungamo District have today commissioned construction works for a modern multipurpose hall at Kibasti Seed Secondary School, valued at 390 million shillings.

The facility, which will be equipped with furniture, electricity, lightning arrestors, and a projector, is expected to be completed within four months by Goldina General Enterprises.

Speaking at the launch, Resident District Commissioner Mary Kagaiga Mugisha said the development reflects government’s commitment to supporting education. She praised the contractor’s track record of quality work and urged both the community and the contractor to collaborate to ensure value for money.

Ntungamo Chief Administrative Officer Fedelis Kiiza confirmed that equipment and manpower have already been mobilized, expressing confidence that the project will deliver the best results.

District Secretary for Finance Elijah Atuhaire, representing District Chairperson Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigooba, commended the strong cooperation between the political and technical wings of the district. He noted that this partnership has enabled smooth implementation of several projects, ensuring accountability and value for government funds.

District Education Officer Denis Ntare highlighted the importance of the hall, saying it will ease learning and provide much-needed infrastructure for the school. Headteacher Evan Kabanza welcomed the project, noting that the school currently lacks a hall and describing the facility as a major boost.

Community leaders also expressed gratitude. Emmanuel Tindimwebwa, a parent and priest at Rukoni II Church of Uganda, applauded government efforts to extend quality education to rural communities. Area councillor Grace Byamugisha added that the hall complements other structures recently built at the school.

Anthony Katizi who represented the contractor revealed that the works will be executed in the stipulated time.

Last year, government invested UGX 2.45 billion in additional facilities for Kibasti Seed Secondary School, further strengthening its infrastructure base.
