US Ambassador Calls for Collective Responsibility in Addressing Child Marriages

American Ambassador to Uganda Deborah Malac has called for a collective responsibility towards addressing challenges of child Marriages.

Her Excellency was on Thursday addressing leaders of Ntungamo and residents during a dialogue held at Rushooka health centre three in Kayonza Sub County.

Local Leaders Asked to Protect Government Land

 

 

Ntungamo district local council V chairperson Denis Singahache has called on leaders at the district level and those in lower administrative units to ensure that government land is protected from grabbers.

 

Singhahache who was addressing local council three chairperson for sub counties and Town councils in a meeting held at Ntungamo district council hall revealed that public land is being targeted by land grabbers who usually take advantage of the laxity by some leaders.

 Head Teachers Cautioned Against Swapping Pupils

Headteachers in Ntungamo district have been cautioned against the practice of swapping primary seven candidates with private schools who tend to register those sought to be average performers from government schools and retain a small number of those thought to be able to score division one.

 

This was made public by Ntungamo district education officer Odo Arigye during the function to release 2018 primary schools mock results.

 

Muslims Urged to Strengthen Family Ties

The Imam of the Ntungamo district mosque sheikh Rhamathan Rwamahe has asked Muslims to strengthen families if the current political and social insecurity is to be stopped.

Preaching during the Eid el Adha prayers at Ntungamo district mosque, he said most of the challenges in the country currently begin at family level and with families breeding violence and economic insecurity high, the country must pass through a series of violence until the issues are resolved.

Health Minsitry Orders for Heightened Surveillance Following Ebola Outbreak in DRC

The ministry of health has ordered for heightened surveillance in districts close to the boarder with the Democratic Republic of Congo following the outbreak of Ebola in the area.

The recent outbreak of the disease was reported in Mangina , Mbalako health zone , in Beni Territory of North Kivu Province.

The outbreak is just 100 kilometers away from the Uganda-Democratic Republic of Congo Boarder point at Mpondwe in Kasese district.
